Welcome to Northern Suburbs Darts League
In 1973 a darts league was formed, which covered the whole Johannesburg area. The league was called
“ The Johannesburg Darts League for the Sons of Gentlefolk “ The games were played between communes and
therefore referred to as a “House League.“
In 1982 the teams that played in the north broke away from the League of Gentlefolk because of distances
traveled between venues, and formed the “Northern Suburbs Darts League.”
Nowadays the N. S. D. L. is referred to as a social darts league, and the teams play mainly from Sports
Clubs, Sports Bars and Pubs.
The Northern Suburbs Darts League started out with a few teams and a load of spirit, and has continued to
grow over the years. At present the league has +/- 500 registered members consisting of 54 teams, divided
into 7 divisions of eight teams each.
Each team consists of 6 regular players and between 2 and 10 reserves.
The year is split into two seasons, the first season being from January to June, and the second season from
July to November. The league games are played on Tuesday nights, with the competitions falling on occasional Thursday nights.
The N. S. D. L. are always on the lookout for new teams or individual players, who are good or not so good,
as long as they are committed to the game.
